What new cabinet door styles or finishes are you seeing for 2026? Are we moving toward more texture, bold color, or subtle refinement?
Flat-panel European-inspired cabinetry remains the standout. Textured woodgrain, warm matte finishes, and a sculptural presence are key. “Clients want cabinetry that feels architectural and timeless,” says Martel. Subtle tones with textural depth are in; ornate designs are out.

We’ve seen a shift toward minimal, integrated hardware, like edge pulls. What’s behind their appeal?
Integrated edge pulls are dominating luxury kitchens and baths. These minimalist pulls offer a clean, seamless appearance that complements flat-panel cabinetry. “They feel modern and elegant, while allowing the materials to take center stage,” says Martel.

Flooring: Bigger Format, Natural Texture

What flooring materials and tones are leading the way for 2026? And what sizes are most in demand right now and what are rectified edges?
Luxury interiors are leaning into warmer woods and tactile finishes. “Lighter tones still feel coastal and fresh, but now we’re seeing richer taupes, walnut browns, and honey oaks making a comeback,” says Martel. Large-format porcelain tiles (24″x24″ or bigger) with rectified edges are ideal for seamless flow and visual spaciousness. When selecting plumbing fixtures, what finishes are resonating most right now?
Brushed and satin finishes are leading the way—especially brushed nickel, champagne bronze, and matte black. These finishes feel elevated but approachable. Homeowners want fixtures that feel like jewelry for the home: refined, tactile, and lasting.

How do you see color influencing the overall mood or feel of a space?
Color has such a strong emotional impact. Warm tones instantly make a space feel more grounded and comfortable, while cooler hues create a sense of calm and airiness. I like to think of color as the “atmosphere” of a home—it’s what makes people feel at ease the moment they walk in. The right palette should complement natural light, enhance textures, and feel effortless throughout the day and evening.

How do you balance contrast and softness in open layouts?
Natural light is a beautiful advantage in open layouts—it allows colors and textures to reveal their depth throughout the day. I like to layer warm neutrals with soft contrast: creamy whites with mid-tone woods or matte black accents to ground an airy palette. Contrast and softness come to life through the interplay of color, texture, and finish. Layering warm tones over neutrals and thoughtfully repeating them in furnishings, rugs, and artwork creates depth, harmony, and visual balance throughout the space.

Do you find clients becoming more adventurous with color or does a more neutral base still dominate luxury design?
Most clients still prefer a neutral foundation of soft whites, creams, and taupes because it’s timeless and flexible. At the same time, they’re becoming more confident with bolder accent tones that add personality without overpowering a room. This balance creates a calm, harmonious backdrop where color can be introduced through artwork, statement lighting, or a standout piece of furniture.

Finishing Touches: Vertical Scale and Emotional Depth

What furniture trends are you seeing for 2026?
We’re seeing a continued move toward softer silhouettes and low-profile pieces that create an open, effortless flow. Curved edges, organic shapes, and textured upholstery in bouclé or natural linen remain popular. The focus is on comfort and proportion—pieces that feel sculptural yet livable. In open-plan spaces like those at The Gallery, this approach helps maintain visual balance and flow.

How are rugs influencing interior design right now?
Rugs are not just a finishing touch—they can be foundational design elements. In open-concept layouts, large-scale area rugs help define zones and create a sense of structure within the space. Natural textures like wool and jute, often layered with subtle tone-on-tone patterning, bring warmth and depth. Overall, rugs add a feeling of luxury and comfort while softening the clean lines of modern interiors.

What role does artwork play in tying a room together?
Art is about energy. Cristi advises embracing bold scale—especially in homes with tall ceilings. “Take art all the way up. It enhances scale and anchors the space.” Large pieces or grouped gallery walls create emotional rhythm and personal connection.

With high ceilings and expansive walls, how should homeowners approach artwork placement?
Don’t be afraid to go vertical. In homes with high ceilings, it’s absolutely okay to take artwork all the way up the wall—it actually enhances the scale of the space. Grouping multiple pieces can also create a gallery effect. The key is balance: mix sizes and spacing to draw the eye upward while maintaining harmony with the furniture and architecture.
